Frequently Asked Questions about PeenBot

Do I need a completely new system for every component?

No. PeenBot is based on a modular design. The dimensions of the blasting cabinet, workpiece holders, robot technology, blasting system and scope of automation can all be tailored to the specific application. This means you don't end up with a standard, off-the-shelf solution, but a bespoke process solution.

Does the robot have to be programmed directly on the system for each new component?

Not necessarily. Blasting paths and sequences can also be prepared offline and then tested on the system. This reduces the amount of programming required directly on the machine and enables more structured planning – particularly for more complex geometries or recurring components.

We have many different components – is automation even worth it in that case?

Yes, automation can be particularly beneficial precisely when dealing with varying components. The key is that shot paths, workpiece holders and process parameters can be flexibly adapted. With PeenBot, motion sequences can be programmed and used for different component geometries. The most suitable configuration always depends on the variety of components, the quantity and the process requirements.

How will I know later how a particular component was peened?

PeenBot can record process data in real time during machining and document it on a component-by-component basis. This makes it possible, amongst other things, to trace process values and individual peening sequences. This supports traceability – particularly where documented process control is relevant.
